“ Very nice small restaurant. We came there without booking on Sunday evening and staff found a table for us. I ordered lamb shank, which was perfectly tender with mash potatoes and vegetables. My wife took rib eye stake, which was the best that we had for a long time travelling around the country. Lovely chocolate brownies for desert. Definitely recommend!!! ”
“ This place is a little gem. Booked short notice for an evening meal (20:45) and they were able to fit us in. The staff were very friendly and clearly appreciated regulars as well as new guests, the venue is clean, tidy and well decorated. The menu had some great dishes with unique twists (I had the Pizza/chicken burger) such as the haggis and chips (cheese too). Desserts were outstanding also. Highly recommended. ”
“ Went here for our anniversary meal out and it did not disappoint. From the minute we walked in the staff were absolutely outstanding and couldn't do enough for us. They were all extremely friendly, efficient and professional. We had a right laugh with them about something that would take too long to explain, they were brilliant. The food was also exceptional. We had the sticky beef to share to start with, then I had the steak and blue cheese pizza, the wife had the surf and turf pizza and I portion of scoop fries to share, it was all fantastic. Credit to the staff, chefs and management for running a fantastic pub / restaurant. ”
“ Came to Ashbourne for the Easter weekend and went to The Bowling Green on our first night. Would recommend reserving a table which we did as it is very popular. Great food, atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. Friday night Sirloin steak cooked to perfection so good we went Saturday evening where I chose fish and chips beautifully cooked crispy batter portion generous. Went again on Sunday and had their Sunday roast of pork with all the trimmings giant Yorkshire pudding and a jug full of delicious gravy what's not to like. Didn't have starters or deserts but from what I saw they all looked delicious I would highly recommend a visit. ”
“ Best customer service in England so far, never seen such well-mannered young staff working in a restaurant. Staff knew the menu very well, and the suggestions were amazing. The food was delicious and fresh. Portions are quite big. We requested a small candle for a birthday, something that is not on the menu. The waitress came with the cake singing happy birthday. How nice and lovely! Thank you to the management for having such a lovely team and a great chef! ”
“ My partner and I rang up to book a table late on bank holiday Sunday and luckily they squeezed us in. First time visiting and it is a lovely setting a small restaurant, it doesn't have much branding on the outside but looks like they have a lot of regulars! Staff were lovely prices were very reasonable and the food was lush! Good portion sizes too! My only quarrel is that the steak cheese burger I had said it was American cheese but it was more of a sauce (see in my photo) than a cheese slice which wasn't to my taste but that is more of a preference and just something I thought I'd make people aware of. Lovely restaurant! ”
